BOM Creation by R&D and then release it for production

Dear All,

We want your suggestions on the way what should be the best suitable method we adopt for BOM creation by R&D and then release for Production.We want in the way That R&D creates R &D BOM and when it is  finalised  then they release it for Production.In the same the whatever changes are being made R&D gets completely recorded in System say in form of Version 1, 2 ,3 etc.We have already used BOM Change approval process in out systems through T code CC01.Please suggest the appropriate  method for it. Can we use BOM usage 2 for same and if so how to Map it in system.
