Re: Basic Modelling Question

Hi Cliff,

In two ways you can achieve this.

1. Create an Attribute view with dimension table PRODUCT. Now create analytic view with fact table NUMBER_OF_SALES in data foundation. In logical join of analytic view, add Attribute view which was created on table PRODUCT and create join between fact table and attribute view. In logical join itself you can create calculated measure VALUE_OF_SALES (NUMBER_OF_SALES times UNIT_COST).

In analytic view you cannot have measures from two tables.

2. If you wanto have Measure columns from both tables then you can go for Calculation View. You can create a graphical calculation view with Join node. Add both PRODUCT and NUMBER_OF_SALES tables and create join between them. You can create calculated column VALUE_OF_SALES (NUMBER_OF_SALES times UNIT_COST). Also you can mark columns coming from two different tables as measures in calculation view.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Rashmi
